SVD Prarthana Nikethan
SVD Prarthana Nikethan, a Family Renewal Centre of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), with its unique Psycho-spiritual approach, has been at the service of families since 1979. This was one of the first few centres in Kerala to offer the Couples’ Charism Retreat. The centre is well known in Kerala along with it’s founder Fr. Sebastian Pottanani, SVD, who earnestly responded to God’s calling to work for the Integral Development of families.
Our History
Responding to God’s Call, Fr. Sebastian Pottanani, SVD, started Charismatic Retreats, Bible study programmes and Mission Animation sessions at SVD Prarthana Niketan since the year 1979. From the year 1998, Prarthana Niketan placed greater emphasis on guiding the married couples more and started with Couples’ Charism Retreats. Along with the retreat ministry, Prarthana Niketan also provide ample opportunities for Counselling and Training programmes.

OUR PRESENCE
SVD PRESENCE IN INDIA
The Society of the Divine Word began its mission in India in 1932 at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. There are four Provinces and one Region in India. Prarthana Niketan comes in India Mumbai Province that consists of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra. There are more than 800 SVD missionaries of Indian origin who proclaim the Word all over the world.
SVD PRESENCE IN KERALA
The first SVD mission house in Kerala began at Kaduthuruthy in 1959. Thereafter in 1962 St. John’s Mission Seminary was opened at Changanacherry for the PUC/ PDC/+2 students. SVD House Pilathara, Vachanajyothi, is situated in the northern part of Kerala in the district of Kannur. Vachanajyothi is a rehabilitation centre for people with alcohol and drug addiction. The latest one is St. Arnolod’s School, Aduvasserry, near Nedumbassery Airport
