SVD Prarthana Nikethan
SVD Prarthana Nikethan, a Family Renewal Centre of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), with its unique Psycho-spiritual approach, has been at the service of families since 1979.
As one of the first few centres in Kerala to offer the Couples’ Charism Retreat, we are well known alongside our founder, Fr. Sebastian Pottanani, SVD, who earnestly responded to God’s calling for the integral development of families.
Our History
Started by Fr. Sebastian Pottanani in 1979 with Charismatic Retreats and Bible studies. By 1998, we pivoted to greater emphasis on Couples’ Charism Retreats and professional Counselling training.

Our Presence
SVD Presence in India
Began in 1932 at Indore. With 4 provinces and 1 region, Prarthana Nikethan is part of the Mumbai Province (Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra). Today, over 800 Indian SVD missionaries serve globally.
SVD Presence in Kerala
Established in Kaduthuruthy (1959). Key missions include St. John’s Seminary (Changanacherry), Vachanajyothi rehabilitation (Kannur), and St. Arnold’s School (Aduvasserry).
